I just bought this Kat Von D liquid eyeliner and I don't really know how to use it. I'm so used to the pencil...how can I apply it to my eyelid, but just a very thin line? I don't like it so thick, at least not this kind of eyeliner. Just on my lashline.How to put on liquid eyeliner?

90 degrees application is if you want thin line.
n like 30 degrees (acute angles of applying eyeliner, applying horizontally) is if you want thicker line.

but they may not help. like i apply liquid eyeliner like how you usually apply liquid eyeliner, but it doesnt work for me because i have weird eyes.
so im going to a makeup consultation tomorrow so they teach me how to apply it right. :)
This way will get you more used to using liquid eyeliner, first draw on the shape with your ordinary pencil liner, then go over it with your liquid eyeliner, trust me it works wonders, then when you get used to using liquid liner you can dump the pencil.
what i do;
i make sure that my eyelashes arent in the way of where im about to put the eyeliner.
then i try to put the eyeliner as close to the eyelid as possible to both eyes first. then i check to make sure they are both even. and if they are then i try to not open my eye wide [because if you do then eyeliner will get on the top of your eyee] then im donee. :)

How do you keep eyeliner from smearing?
i've gone through so many eyeliners already .. waterproof, non smear, etc. ALL of them end up smearing. does eyeshadow over eyeliner really keep it from smearing ?How do you keep eyeliner from smearing?

Instead of applying it to the inside of your eyes I would tell you too apply it from the outer corner of your eyes to about 3/4 of the way to the other side. This will pull the attention from the inside of your eyes to the outside and keep you from looking cross eyed. Also make your eyes pop with a color that flatters you such as if you have blue eyes where a slate brown eyes where a copper green eyes where a plum or a brown. hope this helps you with your problem.How can I put eyeliner on without looking cross eyed? ?

If it's a kohl pencil, those are softer and usually smudgy and meant for a more smokey line so that could be why too, if you have oily lids, a powder shadow would be best for you or you can go over your pencil liner with some powder shadow to set it. Also a waterproof liquid liner would be good like MAC's liquid last but I know liquid can be time consuming and a mess. Hope this helps :)

First, try waterproof eyeliner. Maybelline has a liquid eye liner with a felt tip that is waterproof. Sometimes liquids are harder to apply, but with a little practice you can get nice results. I dab some of the eyeliner on to a tissue before appling so it's easier to contol.
If your eyes are sensitive and you feel that waterproof would be too harsh for you, try visiting MAC cosmetics. MAC offers a line of professional products that will help you makeup stay in place. make the line right into the lash line...it may be easier for you to do tiny feather strokes and then lightly smudge- which will straighten the line for you and make it look more natural and soft.
when applying mascara use a lash primer first, comb thru. apply two coats of a volumizing lash mascara- i use magnascopic by lauder- start at the base and wiggle back and forth and pull thru the lash. i always tell my customers, ';wiggle, wiggle, pull'; and they seem to remember it!How do i apply eyeliner and mascara for my eyes? please help!?

My opinion on expensive makeup is . . . the only thing that I've ever tried that was worth spending extra money on was my foundation, sometimes powder. I use Clinique, and it's not that expensive, because it last for a while. But everything else, such as eyeshadow, mascara, eye liner , etc. is just as good from anywhere else.

Personally to apply the eyeliner, I gently pull my eyelid to the side and sweep the brush gently along the rim of my upper lashes. It is basically just trial and error and the more you practice the better you'll be.
Taking it off is easy, I actually use Q-tips and a make-up remover cream and swipe it along my lashes after I get out of the shower. It will get all the black lines under and on your lashes off.

The key is not to load up. Lets begin
Under eye: starting at the far corner of your eye apply the eyeliner carefully to about the middle of the eye. Dont overload just be gentle
On eyelid: Start at far corner of the eye again and go to about the middle... in my opinion the eyelid is harder to put it on...

Do the same to the other eye, step back from the mirror just to see your results.
I don't honestly see how you would apply it the wrong way, you just have to make a very accurate thin line. You can also smudge your eyeliner to make it look more natural. You can smudge it with your fingers, but you can also buy an eyeliner with a smudger at the tip (personally the built in smudgers at the back SUCK BOOTY). your finger would work better, trust mee. (:

This is because they're most likely using a dull pencil, or holding the pencil at a 90 degree angle against their lid when appling. To avoid this- be sure to hold the pencil up and away from your face. Start where your lashes on your lid begin- on the inside corner- and gradually increase thickness very slowly until you reach the outer edge. from there you can add a wingtip on the end or just finish straight. finish off with lots of mascara.
For a more conservative and subtle look, don't increase thickness as you move toward the outer corner of your eye.

Yeah because putting on top eyeliner makes your eyes appear bigger, and there's just that little 'something' different if you don't put it on. If you only put it on the bottom it'll look really weird, and as somebody else said, make your eyes look droopy and just generally strange (also it makes your eyes appear SIGNIFICANTLY smaller, which is not good especially if you're asian like me and we naturally have smaller eyes than most people lol). I would really recommend putting a medium to thick (but not too thick) line of top eyeliner then getting a silver eyeshadow pen and lightly (LIGHTLY!!) running that across the bottom rim of your eye where you would normally put bottom eyeliner. It makes your eyes appear bigger (putting a bit of the silver in the inner rim of your eye also helps) and generally makes you look less emo and looks like you don't have as much eye makeup on. It's pretty suitable for an everyday look where you wanna look pretty but not too overdone nor too bland.Can other people notice when you don't put on top eyeliner?

Yeah because putting on top eyeliner makes your eyes appear bigger, and there's just that little 'something' different if you don't put it on. If you only put it on the bottom it'll look really weird, and as somebody else said, make your eyes look droopy and just generally strange (also it makes your eyes appear SIGNIFICANTLY smaller, which is not good especially if you're asian like me and we naturally have smaller eyes than most people lol). I would really recommend putting a medium to thick (but not too thick) line of top eyeliner then getting a silver eyeshadow pen and lightly (LIGHTLY!!) running that across the bottom rim of your eye where you would normally put bottom eyeliner. It makes your eyes appear bigger (putting a bit of the silver in the inner rim of your eye also helps) and generally makes you look less emo and looks like you don't have as much eye makeup on. It's pretty suitable for an everyday look where you wanna look pretty but not too overdone nor too bland.Can other people notice when you don't put on top eyeliner?

REVLON COLORSTAY (SAYS 16 HOURS lasting on pacakge) this is actually the TWIRL kind so you dont need a sharpener, i suggest this one so you can cary it with you incase you forget your sharpener.
IT lasts all day, and the next day lol its awesome and about 6 bucks at walmart. (you can get this almost anywhere). dont forget to read the color (black or brown, i always grab the wrong one!)
i'd die without it!

greens and golds will make your eyes appear large and vivid also when applying mascara always to the outer edge lashes with a few more coats too that gives the appearance of lovely big eyes too.
Gold shimmery eyeshadows will compliment both your eye color and your skin tone. Or you can try a smokey eye, by putting eyeliner on your top lid and using a Q-tip to smudge it onto your eyelid. Then apply eyeliner to your bottom lid and mascara to your top. I hope this helped!

Hey! I love eyeline, but in moderation! The rule is...during the day, you should have delicate eyes, not a lot of eyeliner. BUT at night play up your eyes! The smokey eye trick is a great one! And you don't have to over do the eyeliner, but a little more at night looks good! During the day I would say use a ligher color eye shadow (I use neutrals, or not any at all during the day) and I just put a little eyeliner on the bottom, and then at night I use the liquid eyeliner on top (it makes a more dramatic effect) Eyes are the first thing people notice when they look at your face, so play them up! How much eyeliner should I use?

Apply just a little bit on the bottom..don't over do it..Make it noticeable but not too heavy.
I've seen girls sit there and use up like half of their eyeliner on one eye. lol
well i used to get the eyeliner pencil and just trace it underneath my eye. but my friend meghan got me into using alot of eyeliner, actually now i have liquid eyeliner and i do a heavy line along the bottom of my eye. actually on my skin. but im tan so i dont look gothic or anything. it basically depends on whatever you like (:
also are you lookin for the natural look or the glam look?

since your fair skinned use plum and browns. then you wont over do it. just be careful when using black. its easy to over do it with black.
I only put it under my eyes but i only go over about 2, 3 tops! So its noticeable but not thick! xxx

Not everyone can pull off dark eyeliner on the bottom lid, but a white or light colour on the bottom can help brighten your eyes.

I would suggest buying an all new eyeliner, the one you have is obviously no good. If you are having a continious problem with pencil eyeliner, you could even switch to liquid eyeliner. It is a bit trickier, but once you have got the hang of it, it really is nice. If liquid isnt your thing, try getting a black (or whatever color eyeliner you are looking for) eyeshadow, and an angle eye brush, and apply like eyeliner. A trick to making the eyeshadow more like eyeliner; wet the brush a bit first. Using a mineral shadow, like miccabella, works best with a wet angle brush. There is even an eyeshadow that is meant to be turned into eyeliner with a wet brush at the makeup store : SEPHORA

I just switched to cream eyeliner and it works a million times better. Smooth like liquid, but not so harsh,has a soft clean finish. Won't break either, no sharpening, and lasts for months. I finally had it because I use to use a self sharpening pencil and kept crumbling.I thought the brush part of cream application was going to be hard, but it's easier than a pencil. MAC makes a good one, otherwise Sephora has them (and u can order online). U need a good brush too. Don't skimp cause it makes all the difference. Costs more at first, but it will last like a year. Probably around 15 for liner, and 15 for brush.
Your eyeliner could just be old and it's time for a new one, or your sharpener is to harsh, make sure you are using a sharpener for makeup pencils, any old sharpener wont do.
Perhaps it's not such a good eyeliner? Try buying a more expensive one (I don't want to sound like a high-brand freak but....).

I finally had it because I use to use a self sharpening pencil and kept crumbling.I thought the brush part of cream application was going to be hard, but it's easier than a pencil. MAC makes a good one, otherwise Sephora has them (and u can order online). U need a good brush too. Don't skimp cause it makes all the difference. Costs more at first, but it will last like a year. Probably around 15 for liner, and 15 for brush.
Your eyeliner could just be old and it's time for a new one, or your sharpener is to harsh, make sure you are using a sharpener for makeup pencils, any old sharpener wont do.
Perhaps it's not such a good eyeliner? Try buying a more expensive one (I don't want to sound like a high-brand freak but....).

Uhmm I put it on by pulling down your top lid then on the point where your eye lashes and lid meet. It looks a lot more natural... but if u dont want it 2 look naturtal pull your eye lid to right or left side (depends on the eye your doing it on) then trace it that way. I recomend not doing that w/ black :).
pull down your lower lid and you'll see an edge sorta. draw on that. when you let go of it, some of the make up might go onto your eye but it looks natural. if you want to apply some to your top lid then simply run along your eyelashes. i'd recommend liquid eyeliner though, if you have a steady hand. have fun.

Why isnt my eyeliner staying on anymore?
i have a waterproof eyeliner that ive been using forever everyday, and i stopped for a day or two cause i ran out. i bought an exact new one and it only stays on for 5 hours, when it used to stay on from morning to night. it gets all smudgy for no reason. could it be that my eyes are more watery?Why isnt my eyeliner staying on anymore?

So don't place it near the eye area.

Removes eyeliner, mascara, eyeshadow, fake eyelashes, and doesn't tug your skin (no wrinkles!). I'm a makeup artist, and I use it on myself and all my models when i have a project going on.
I use Pond's wipes or Revlon lip and eyemakeup remover. When I do shows or use everyday makeup they really help and they're fast!

With your contacts it would not be a good idea. Actually it's not a good idea even if you don't wear contacts. The ingredients in eyeliner can be irritating to the mucus lining of the lid, and the particles can cause a blockage of tear ducts or the eyelash pores. You could end up with a major zit in a spot where it is really uncomfortable- pink eye, and other eye related problems. And a tiny bit under the contact? OUCH! Scratches of the eye are painful to say the least, and would put you out of contacts for a few days while it healed. I just recommend keeping the eyeliner on the skin below the eyelashes, and well out of the eye otherwise. And be sure you trade out the old one for a new one every month or so. Eyeliner is notorious for feeding gerbies and becomes a source of infection, just like mascara does. I really like Loreal HIP eyeliner. It's a pencil, so you'll have to sharpen it. But it goes on SO easy and stays on, too.
Maybe liquid eyeliner would be a good idea for you too, since it might stay on better. But it can be really tricky to get a nice line from it, so be very careful. You should get a dark brown color, to apply it take your finger and pull your bottom eyelid down and then swipe the eyeliner across the waterline on your eye, it doesn't hurt at all! then pull your top lid down and get as close to your eyelashes as possible and just go right across your lid staying very, very close to your lashes! To make your eyes stop watering you should try wiping your eyes very good before appling and it might be because of allergies so take medication for that...

I don't use drug store foundation or powder, I have been using bare minerals for 3 years but just had my free 5 piece sample kit from everyday minerals ordered because it doesn't have bismuth oxychloride (the 1 ingredient difference that can make you shiny). I was only $3 shipping.
The best best best eyeliner I have ever used is Rimmel London professional liquid eyeliner, I bought it at Walmart for under $10. I also use their kohl pencil once in a while but I prefer liquid.
Also the best mascara I have ever tried (and I have used max factor, bare escentuals, etc) is Maybelline Volum' Express Turbo Boost. I am a big Maybelline fan, I had at least 5 different Maybelline mascaras in my collection when I checked 2 days ago. My favorites in order are:

What color eyeliner should I use?
My eyes can be blue(not bright), gray, blue/gray. I don't know what color eyeliner to use and eyeshadow. I would like to try colored eyeliner too, not just black/brown. I have lightish brown hair that is past my shoulders. And if it matters(I'm not sure so I'll say it anyway) I have naturally thick and sort of long eyelashes. So if anyone can help me with this, it would be greatly appreciated.What color eyeliner should I use?

It really depends on your completion. If you tan really easily and have a darker skin tone, you should try darker colors. It you have a pale skin tone and tend to burn or lightly tan, then use lighter colors.
Dark Completion:
Try starting with a light pink eyeshadow. Brush it on lightly, so it highlights your eyes. Then if it is just a normal day use a dark eyeliner like a charcoal Grey or a light black. Since you have thick eyelashes, try using a black mascara and a maximum of one or two stripes of it. If you want to be a little funky, use a red eyeliner, with a silver eyeshadow.

If you have a light completion use a light green or gold eyeshadow. Brush it on so it looks smokey, but not trampy. Then, apply a warm Grey (50%) or a medium brown eyeliner. Finally, apply one too two coats of dark brown mascara, but not anymore. If you want it too look funky, try using a silver or lavender eyeliner.

i use mac eye kohl eyeliner and it doesnt smudge it stays on the ENITRE day:).
its kinda expensive but im so glad i bought it. i used to buy a lot of drugstore eyeliners and every single one that i tried, smeared and i had to reapply every time. ugh so then i went to a mac counter and bought the eye kohl in smolder. (which is very black) i love it.
Covergirl Outlast eyeliners. It comes in a twist pen, and is more similar to a pencil but goes on alot smoother.
And Maybelline makes the same product (again, as a twist pen). It goes on alot smoother than the Covergirl one, but does need to be set with powder because it's very easy to smudge.
I use Rimmel London Black Eyeliner and I sometimes buy Chanel 01 Black Eyeliner, but that is a bit more expensive.
I use Wet n Wild eyeliner. They come in a zillion colours; I use the dark brown, myself. It stays on all day.

Soft black eyeliner or a deep chocolate always looks nice, but it's more in the application than the color with eyeliner. Thick lines can make eyes seem smaller. A medium-ish line or thinly smudged line is ideal. Also, very,very dark black can seem harsh and also drown out the eye.
As for eyeshadow, purples are a universally good color for all eye colors. To really make eyes pop, go outside on a sunny day with a mirror and look into your eyes. Try to spot the undertones and flecks of color in your eyes. Are they golden colors? Greens? Doing the color opposite of them on the color wheel will make your eyes really pop.

The dilemma is that I am asian so I have black hair and lashes. So I was wondering if I should just go with normal black eyeliner. I want to look natural so should I get a brown one? What color? So that will be the focal point, use a neutral color on our eyelids (brown, shimmery, black) Then i usually highlight right under my eyebrows and the inner crease of the eyes with a slightly shimmery off-white powder. Btw, i usually just get the pencil eyeliner for about a dollar or so at drug stores. I dont suggest the liquid kind.

You should get straight out midnight black and wear it on top and bottom i am a make-up artist.
use black. if you wanna look natural, just put a little bit on the bottom and see how you like it.
I bet black would look just fine on you. Also, Revlon's Color Stay works the best.
i personally like Midnight Madness by the Maybelline brand.
you should always put it on both, and brown would look best cause it would end up looking darker and natural

he mite decide to hit on you or somethin and maybe mess up while tryin to fix your eye and you mite get eye disease.
